Food Coding System

The classification system for recording food consumption data
 

This Website is being developed under the project of the EU COST Action 99/Eurofoods in collaboration with Anders Møller, Institute of Food Research and Nutrition, Food Informatics, Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, Mørkhøj Bygade 19, DK-2860 Søborg, Denmark.

The Eurocode 2 Food Coding System was originally developed within the European FLAIR Eurofoods-Enfant Project "to serve as a standard instrument for nutritional surveys in Europe and to serve the need for food intake comparisons" (Poortvliet et al., 1991, page 4).
This Website is currently maintained with the objectives of:

• reviewing and modifying the existing Eurocode 2 classification to remove or reduce some problems identified with the system
• making documentation of the system widely available.

The Website provides the following information:

• Documentation of the Eurocode 2 Food Coding System
• Eurocode 2 Review project
• Proposals for modifications to Eurocode 2
• Discussion Group for the proposals and documentation.

The informal Discussion Group has a key role in developing and agreeing proposals for the modification of Eurocode 2 and in building useable and comprehensive documentation of the system. The Website provides the opportunity for you to submit your comments and suggestions through a feedback form or by e-mail. Your input can form a major contribution to the work and we look forward to hearing from you.
